BMCiReporter: Cherry

TOOLFIST, A Boston based band who are skilled musicians with many years of experience, rocked the C Note at Nantasket Beach this past Saturday night!
They do an Authentic Tribute to Tool, which consists of dissecting and performing the music of Tool and the band members say it has proven to be all at once challenging, humbling and enlightening.

The people who attended were amazed at how well TOOLFIST can perform  this technically precise music and they couldn't stop dancing to it!

Blog Series Part 2; Get Ready for the Music at Boston GreenFest 2011: Mamadou

By Doug Ruffin
President,
Boston Music Coalition

Do you want to see another local band or, gain a memorable music experience? If you decided on the ladder; get ready to attend Boston GreenFest 2011 on August 18 – 20 at City Hall Plaza in Boston; Because Mamadou is gonna take good care of you.

Lead singer, Mamadou Diop, a West African Guitarist and drummer, heads up a world class group of musical professionals whose influences include West African World Fusion, Reggie, Afro Beat and world influences from West Africa to the states with Rumba, Sumba and Salsa blended up all in the mix. And it works. Not because of the way they craft the music, But because the blend is honest, real and natural.

It is fitting that Mamadou is playing at Boston GreenFest 2011. Like the festival it’s self. The music is epileptic. The festival is about being green and to be green you need to respect what is natural. The Mamadou experience is a magnificent and natural musical high.

Blog Series: Part 1. Get Ready For the Music at Boston GreenFest 2011: Jamie Kent & the Options

By Doug Ruffin
President,
Boston Music Coalition

This is the first of a series of music spotlights leading up to Boston GreenFest 2011.

I am all about living green. I actually really do care about the environment. That said; I look forward every year to GreenFest. This year, Boston GreenFest 2011 at City Hall Plaza, August 18, 19 and 20 Rain or shine, will be huge! The music will show a more diverse accompaniment to what you may be used to hearing when it comes to from the green movement or Green events. They’ll even have a soul stage! Just try finding that in a green coffee house in the republic of Cambridge MA (Or, anywhere else for that matter). Theirs’ even a pumpin’ after party every night at the Hard Rock Café.

Live Saturday at Boston GreenFest 2011: Jamie Kent & The Options
Jamie Kent & The Options have a groove and arrangement style that fusions Jazz, Pop and Rock. That’s not easy to do. But trust me, it works and they do it well. Mark Roessler from the The Vally Advocate describes Jamie Kents’ album as,   “Neoteny reveals itself to be a swinging, witty romp of an album… with a hybrid jazz/rock sensibility reminiscent of Steely Dan.”
Jammie Kent & The Options are just one of the artists performing at GreenFest August 18. 19 and 20 at City Hall Plaza, Boston.

Catch a clip to hear the Jammie Kent & The Options sound.

Milly Quezada Lights up City Hall Plaza in Boston. This is a Boston Music Coalition Live Music Review

By Doug Ruffin
President,
Boston Music Coalition

Much has been researched to find alternative sources of energy. I would invite these prospectors to attend a Milly Quezada concert. She is the embodiment of pure energy.

One does not need to know the Spanish language to gain the feeling in each and every song. As a performer, Milly Quezada draws in the audience with her showmanship and sense of humor. She is extremely welcoming. Milly asks her audience in English, “Where are my English speaking people? Where are my Spanish speaking people? Where are my people over 50?” and, “Where are my people 50 and younger?” The cheers get louder and she instantly bursts with a power supply of music and stage performance that will light up the stage, the city and most of all, your life.

If Milly is the power supply, her band and back up singers are the earth’s core of which her energy is derived. Percussion, String and Wind instruments with highly charged back up singers blend easily together so that Milly Quezada, the queen of Meringue, can use her voice to transform the core in to the most powerful and valuable source of energy. … Music!
