By Doug Ruffin
President,

Being the new kid on the block in the business side of music is as about as challenging as being a new boy band competing with Pitbull to sell music. Fulfilling a need by creating a valuable service is what any business would want to plan in order to succeed. The Boston Music Coalition Publicizes Live Music. Our job is to get the word out about your well planned Music-Related events. We have a reservoir of tools at hand to make your project a hit.

One of our efforts invites area arts, entertainment and music organizations to alien with us to create stronger relationships to build a symphony of business development for everyone involved. Last week; I attended an, arts networking event as well as a technology networking event. From that; e mails are populating, telephone calls are taking place and meetings are now scheduled. We will discuss synergy with companies and organizations who want to work with us to, “get the word out” in support of live music performances in any genre throughout the greater Boston Area.

You too are invited to participate with us. If you are involved with live music performances, be it on stage, behind the scenes or need us to be that vital step we are well equipped to be for your entertainment  marketing plan; Contact us. A good friend of mine reminds us all that, “Together, we can make a difference”.

Contact me directly at 617 794-1495 or, e mail. DouglasR@BostonMusicCoalition.com. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Stand in The Center of Boston and You will Hear All The Music

By Doug Ruffin
President,
Boston Music Coalition

ArtsBoston held it’s 4th annual Fall Social and Arts Preview at the Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre in Boston. Visitors were invited to walk around the upper lobby to meet and be greeted to music and performing arts organizations throughout greater Boston. We were treated to plenty of food and wine was served as well.

But before you think this was a stuffy hand shaking event for the arts; I’m here to tell ya’; It was fun and lively. Warm hugs, eye contact and lots of laughter replaced the traditional hand shaking most networking events seem to offer. To name a few of the leaders in music and arts in Boston would not do justice to the many that attended. But here are a few. Musica Sacra,World Music / CRASHarts, Boston Babydolls Burlesque, Celebrity Series of Boston, MOATSE / The Strand Theatre, Wellesley College, Emerson College, Boston College, The Conservatory of Music, Sheer Madness, Cantata Singers, ArtsBoston, The Lyric StageCompany of Boston, Longwood Symphony Orchestra, Boston Early Music Festival, The Blue Man Group and Shear Madness. Well over fifty companies had tables. Guests easily networked networked amongst them selves.

I met some great people who may soon be working with us at the Boston Music Coalition. And for a moment or two, I could hear a symphony of new and traditional music being played in harmony from music organizations all over greater Boston.

She has talent. She can sing and she cares deeply for the community. Shea Rose!

By Doug Ruffin
President,
Boston Music Coalition

I attended Phenomena 2011 on Saturday. It was a swanky fundraiser for, Christopher’s Haven, a local charity that helps children and their families facing cancer. The event was held at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline.

The event offered not just one but two fashion shows, good food, great wine, terrific networking and a phenomenal songstress; Shea Rose. Shea is elegant, clear, diverse, strong and smooth. Shea Rose performed for the lucky attendees at Phenomena 2011 on Saturday.

Shea Rose  "Light Fades"

After her performance, Shea Rose came over to our Boston Music Coalition VIP Table. I took the opportunity to discuss her performance as it related to the fundraiser. She first told me, “The creative arts is one of the most powerful platforms we can use to inform our society, connect and inspire our  communities and raise awareness about social issues that affect our world at large.” Not knowing what to expect out of her, I told her laughingly that I felt that the statement she made was deep; and Shea Rose looked up at me and smiled warmly with true sincerity in her eyes. At that very moment knew that a star will indeed emerge from Boston. When I asked Shea, How she enjoyed singing at this swanky fund raiser event? She instantly replied, “I'm honored to perform at the Bless By Bless Charity Gala and to be amongst other creative artists who also aspire to impact humanity in a positive way with their art.” I loved what she said and how she stated it. Who wouldn’t? What I like about talking with Shea Rose is that her answers were not in a prepared statement. She answered me on the spot and was gracious enough to stop by after singing from her heart to speak from the bottom of her heart. And for that, I thanked her.

                                                           Shea Rose  "Free Love"

                                                             Shea Eose "I'm The Sh*t"

Steve Jobs will be missed

On the passing of Steve Jobs; I just want to say that he changed the way music is distributed as well as the way we listen to it.

Steve Jobs moved technology forward. More than that, Steve had the vision to capture our imagination.
