Congratulations to all of the winners of this years Grammy Awards. in
particular, Daft Punk and Teri Lyne Carrington. I have been a fan of Daft Punk for years. The Electronic Dance Music artists from France have helped make EDM just as popular in the US as it always has been world Wide. Colaburations and live performances has made a differencein the growth of dance music. While Daft Punk won four Grammy awards this year; The live performance with Stevie Wonder during the Grammy Telecast had the crowd on their feet and the music industry leaders in the US standing tall for EDM. Those of us who love Dance Music and those who record and perform the genre must encourage and support live music performances of dance music bands.
Boston's own, Teri Lyne Carrington is my fave Jazz artist. She received local media attention and collaborated with jazz leaders around the world starting from her early days as a little girl drummer and continues today as a Mother balancing motherhood and stardom. Teri won her second Grammy Sunday for Best Jazz Instrumental Album. Her live performances are a world wide jazz sensation.
When it comes to award winning music and artistry; I can't help notice that Live music wins. Trouble is; only non-commercial radio stations like 'GBH and WBUR were the only media outlets that took note of Teri Lyne Carrington. Any News organization worth a dime "Should" know how to place a local angle on a national or international event. ahh, Hello? ... Guys? Teri Lyne Carrington is your local angle. So, Where were ya'?
Recognition of local live performances throughout greater Boston is news worthy. It goes hand in hand with the success of all music genres and stimulates the local Creative Economy.
Surely, that counts for something.
